vacation update (1) - Cameron Highlands

hola todos.

I'm in Kuala Lumpur right now, in Chinatown, just taking a quick internet break before heading up to Little India and the Petronas Towers. So far the trip has been amazing!

Our first morning in Malaysia we all took a bus up to the Cameron Highlands (4.5 hrs), an elevated plateau that is renowned for its tea plantations and strawberry farms. Having eaten ZERO berries of any kind in the last 9 months, this was very exciting. Also, because it's approximately 6700 feet elevation, it was refreshingly cool, perfect weather after the brutal hot season in Cambodia. We stuffed our faces with delicious Indian food, took a short - 1.5 hr - jungle hike past a waterfall, toured a tea plantation and learned how tea was made, ate fresh, warm, home-made scones with freshly picked strawberries, and one evening we snuck into the TV room to watch The Daily Show. Really, does it get much better than that?

And yesterday in KL we watched a movie in a real movie theater. This is the good life.

Yes, it can! It was in the 90's in SF! And I walked the streets at 9 pm without a jacket, can you believe it?
