vacation update (2) - Singapore

I spent four days in Singapore. It's an amazing city, a first-world city, which I was in awe of after 9 months in Cambodia. It's extremely clean, there's good, cheap food everywhere, everyone speaks English well, nice beaches, movie theaters, etc. Also, the public transportation is the best I've ever seen. Metro trains run every three minutes, there are bus transfer points with clearly marked destinations at every metro terminal, and they use a smart pass that you can keep in your wallet as you swipe to pay for the metro ($.60), buses, and even taxis.

We went to the zoo one day. Very fun! They have polar bears! And walked around the city another day, just checking out the business district, the convention center (which looks like a giant durian fruit), the park, city hall, etc. We also rode the gigantic Singapore Flyer! We had drinks at the Long Bar of the Raffles Hotel, birthplace of the Singapore Sling. A day at the beach. And good food every day. It was great!
