My host sister taught me to make homemade soy milk, and I can tell you that the literal translation from Khmer, "bean water," is much more accurate than 'soy milk.' The most time-consuming part of the production phase was crushing enough beans to give me a couple liters worth of bean juice. Add a bit of sugar and voila....bean water!! I mean, soy milk.
Oh, and the Khmer word for milk translates literally as 'water-from-the-cow's-nipple.'
