my technique is sloppy
Okay, for those of you who don't know, Cambodians usually eat family-style, which means everyone has their own plate/bowl of rice and then shares the main dishes. Only, it's rude to take more than a spoonful or two of food at a time, so everyone is constantly using their spoon, which is the main eating utensil (the fork is used only for helping get food onto the spoon), and getting bites of food from the center of the table. Only problem is my technique is sloppy, so I'm always dripping bits of food from one dish into another, or onto the table, or otherwise exhibiting poor spoon-to-bowl etiquette. Though I have become a master of plucking fish and pork bones from my mouth and chucking them out the back door, which is a required skill and in no way un-polite.
